The name of the project is "1 Euro Houses" or "Comprare casa a 1 euro" and it originated with the intention of repopulating small villages through selling homes at a symbolic price of 1 Euro. 

​

The houses are fixer-uppers, therefore expect additional costs, such as the notary fees and renovation costs. You will be able to take advantage of the restoration bonus, which allows a tax deduction of 50% of the expenses incurred, up to a maximum spending limit of 96k euros.

HOW.

  1. Contact the municipality where you're intending to purchase the house;

  2. Request the Italian tax code, as this is necessary to pay taxes;

  3. Become a home owner in Italy.

WHEN.

  1. Submit the renovation plans and acquire the necessary permits within 2 to 12 months after purchasing the home;

  2. Start the renovation process within the next year;

  3. Complete the renovations within the next 3 years.
